Pressure transducers and sensors

TE Instrumentation supplies GEMS and Setra pressure transducers for industrial equipment, process installations, data centres, HVAC, semiconductor manufacturing and test systems. As exclusive distributor in the Netherlands, we help engineers identify the measurement type, range, output and configuration needed for an application.
A pressure transducer converts measured pressure into an electrical signal for a controller, PLC, data-acquisition platform or building-management system. Selection depends on more than maximum pressure: the reference pressure, medium, accuracy and operating environment also matter.

Types of pressure measurement
Gauge pressure
Gauge pressure is measured relative to local atmospheric pressure. It is widely used in hydraulic, pneumatic, cooling and industrial systems.
Absolute pressure
Absolute pressure uses vacuum as its reference. It is selected when changes in atmospheric pressure must not alter the measurement reference.
Barometric pressure
Barometric sensors measure atmospheric pressure accurately. Setra Model 270 provides high-performance analogue barometric, absolute and gauge-pressure measurement.
Differential pressure
A differential-pressure sensor measures the difference between two points. Applications include filter monitoring, fan control, duct pressure, containment, leak testing and test stands. Setra Model 267 is designed for very low differential or static pressure in air and non-conducting gases.
Ultra-high-purity pressure
UHP pressure transducers are used where process cleanliness and contamination control are critical. Setra Model 225 is designed for high-purity gas distribution and semiconductor process equipment.

GEMS pressure transducers
GEMS supplies compact, robust pressure transducers for OEM equipment and industrial liquid or gas systems. The current range includes CVD, sputtered-thin-film and capacitance sensing technologies with different pressure ranges, materials, outputs and connections.
The GEMS 3100/3200 Series is relevant to industrial and liquid-cooling applications requiring all-stainless-steel wetted parts and a broad choice of outputs and electrical or pressure connections.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a pressure sensor and a transducer?
The terms are often used interchangeably. In industrial applications, a transducer generally converts pressure into a usable electrical output.
When is differential-pressure measurement required?
It is used when the difference between two pressure points matters, such as across a filter, between two spaces or in a test system.
Which sensor is suitable for high-purity gas?
Selection depends on the gas, range, fitting and cleanliness requirements. Setra Model 225 is designed for ultra-high-purity applications, but the full specification must be reviewed.
Can TE Instrumentation help replace an existing sensor?
Yes. Send the model number, photographs and available datasheet or specification so that current options can be assessed.
