TE Instrumentation

Sensors and measurement solutions for data centres

TE Instrumentation supports designers, OEMs, consultants, system integrators and contractors with sensing and control components for data-centre cooling. As the exclusive distributor for Setra and GEMS in the Netherlands, we can combine solutions for both air-cooled and liquid-cooling systems.

This page is intended for organisations designing or delivering complete data-centre equipment and infrastructure, from HVAC and air-handling systems to Coolant Distribution Units, rack cooling, pump systems and building controls.

Differential-pressure measurement in air-cooled data centres

Controlled airflow helps separate hot and cold air and provides the control system with information about filters, fans, coils, plenums and containment systems.

Setra Model 267 can support:

  • Fan and airflow control.
  • Differential pressure across filters.
  • Differential pressure across DX coils.
  • Hot- and cold-aisle containment.
  • Return-air and supply plenums.
  • Raised-floor pressure.
  • Static duct pressure.

Model 267 measures very low differential pressure in air and non-conducting gases. Its mounting, output and display options support integration into equipment and HVAC systems.

Sensors for liquid cooling and CDU systems

Liquid-cooling systems use fluid to remove heat from racks and IT equipment. A Coolant Distribution Unit manages circulation and heat transfer between the data-centre cooling infrastructure and the equipment. Reliable sensing and control components are needed throughout this system.

Relevant GEMS product groups include:

Flow measurement and monitoring

Flow meters and switches can confirm coolant circulation and identify abnormal conditions. Relevant GEMS families include XFT, RotorFlow and FT-110.

Level and leak detection

Level sensors can support CDU reservoirs, buffer tanks and other parts of a cooling circuit. Depending on the design, point-level sensors can provide high- or low-level alarms and leak detection. Relevant GEMS families include ELS-1100, ELS-1150, CAP-300 and ULS-200.

Pressure monitoring

Pressure transducers can help identify abnormal conditions caused by a blockage, pump problem or leak. The GEMS 3100/3200 Series is a relevant family for data-centre liquid-cooling circuits.

Coolant control

Solenoid valves switch or regulate fluid flow within compact cooling systems and manifolds. The GEMS AG and BG Series appear in official GEMS data-centre material for coolant-control applications.

Support for equipment manufacturers and design teams

Sensor selection for data-centre equipment can depend on the medium, material compatibility, pressure or flow range, temperature, accuracy, response, output, supply, connection, available space and enclosure requirement.

TE Instrumentation can help with:

  • Selection for new equipment or cooling-system designs.
  • Combining pressure, flow, level and valve-control functions.
  • Product selection for prototypes, test systems and serial production.
  • Replacement of existing GEMS or Setra components.
  • Reviewing a customer specification or existing model number.

One Netherlands contact for Setra and GEMS

Setra supports pressure and differential-pressure measurement for airside HVAC and other infrastructure systems. GEMS adds level, flow, pressure and valve-control solutions for liquid systems. Combining both brands at application level enables TE Instrumentation to support more than one sensing or control point within an engineered system.

For an enquiry, send a process diagram, measurement-point list or product specification where possible. Include the medium, ranges, connections, signals, quantities and current design stage.

Discuss your data-centre project

Send a process diagram, measurement-point list or product specification. We will help select the relevant Setra and GEMS components.

Frequently asked questions

Does TE Instrumentation supply sensors for CDU manufacturers?

Yes. GEMS ranges include flow, level and pressure sensors and solenoid valves that may suit Coolant Distribution Units. The correct product is selected for the application.

Which sensor is used for airside differential pressure?

Setra Model 267 is the priority product for low differential-pressure measurement in air and non-conducting gases, including filters, plenums and containment.

Can these sensors be integrated into an existing design?

Many products offer different outputs, connections and mounting options. Send the existing specification so that the available configurations can be assessed.

Is TE Instrumentation targeting only data-centre operators?

No. The target audience also includes engineering firms, design consultants, HVAC and cooling OEMs, CDU manufacturers, BMS integrators and contractors.
