Multipoint Level Switches
Multipoint level switches monitor several liquid levels with one instrument or assembly. They are useful when a tank requires more than one switching point, such as a high alarm, low alarm, pump start, pump stop or process-control signal.
Depending on the measurement task, a solution may use multiple discrete switches or a continuous level sensor with configurable outputs. TE Instrumentation supplies GEMS level instruments and can help distinguish between these approaches for the application.
When to consider multipoint level monitoring
- Several liquid levels must be monitored in one tank.
- Pump control requires multiple switching points.
- Alarm, protection and control functions need to be combined.
- One assembly is preferred to several separately mounted switches.
Technical selection
Important selection inputs include tank dimensions, switching points, process medium, density, pressure, temperature, wetted materials, mounting position, process connection and electrical interface. Suitability depends on the selected measurement principle and configuration.
Send the tank details, liquid properties and required alarm or control points. TE Instrumentation can review the application and help select an appropriate multipoint or continuous level-measurement route.
