GEMS pressure switches for pressure and vacuum monitoring

A pressure switch provides an electrical signal when pressure or vacuum reaches a defined point. It can monitor a pump, compressor, filter, hydraulic system or machine. TE Instrumentation supplies GEMS pressure switches and supports selection and replacement as the exclusive GEMS distributor in the Netherlands.

Pressure range is only one part of the specification. The medium, normal operating pressure, switching point, overpressure, temperature, materials, process connection, electrical termination and required contact function together determine which configuration may fit.

GEMS pressure switches by measurement task

PS11 for low pressure

The GEMS PS11 is designed for low-pressure applications. Adjustable and factory-set configurations are available, depending on the selected version. This family may suit general industrial equipment and OEM systems after the medium, diaphragm material and switch load have been checked. View the GEMS PS11 Series.

PS61 for compact hydraulic and pneumatic systems

The GEMS PS61 combines a compact format with configurations for hydraulic and pneumatic applications. Different process ports, electrical terminations and diaphragm materials are available. Range alone is not enough: set pressure, deadband, overpressure and environmental conditions must also be assessed. View the GEMS PS61 Series.

PS71 and PS75 for broader or heavier-duty monitoring

The PS71 is a general-purpose hydraulic pressure switch with adjustable or factory-set variants. The PS75 uses a piston/diaphragm design for systems where pressure surges and high proof pressure matter. PS82 for vacuum monitoring

GEMS provides a separate vacuum-switch family for sub-atmospheric pressure. Selection should define the vacuum point, required contact action, process connection and material needs. Explore all current families in the official GEMS pressure-switch overview.

Pressure-switch selection criteria

  • Medium compatibility with diaphragm, seals and housing.
  • Normal, minimum and maximum pressure or vacuum.
  • Required setpoint, tolerance, repeatability and deadband.
  • Overpressure, pressure surges, cycles and vibration.
  • Process connection, mounting position and available space.
  • SPST or SPDT, normally open or closed, voltage and switch load.
  • Temperature, ingress protection and approval requirements.

Pressure switch or pressure transducer?

A pressure switch provides a discrete on/off output at a limit. A pressure transducer provides a continuous signal for monitoring, recording or control. Can a GEMS pressure switch be used with liquids and gases?

Several families are intended for hydraulic or pneumatic applications, but suitability depends on the medium, pressure, temperature and selected materials. The exact configuration should be checked.

What is pressure-switch deadband?

Deadband is the difference between the point at which a switch activates and the point at which it resets. That difference varies by series and configuration.

Can TE Instrumentation replace an existing GEMS part number?

Send the complete part number and current process and electrical data. We will check whether the existing configuration is current and assess a technically suitable alternative when needed.
